Will power

will·pow·er
noun \’wil-?pau?(-?)r\

: the ability to control yourself : strong determination that allows you to do something difficult

As you may or may not know I like to start off my terminology posts with a text book definition, after all it is the shortest way to explain what anything is. It’s looking further and from different perspectives that is where the fascinations start to arise. For example a blind and def person can only feel how a term is. Will power for example would be hard to express to someone that could not see or hear. How do you express not giving up when things seem lost? Or not starting something because it has been failed so many times before? Or most importantly how to have inner strength?

What I do like about the example above is the idea of feeling something over thinking it. I believe will power is more of a feeling and from a feeling perspective you can start to harness how will power works. Imagine will power available whenever you need it, an unlimited supply on demand. Total control over doing or not doing anything despite the adversities. If you think it sounds easy, test yourself. Would you like to be able to do 100 push ups? I think it would be awesome, but we know it’s not possible. The truth is you have more strength than needed to do 100 push ups, it’s your mind that decides how far your strength can go (to an extent). This is proven by mothers doing impossible things with their strength to save their babies in a seconds notice and there are many other examples of passion overcoming logic.

Willpower is the key to success. Successful people strive no matter what they feel by applying their will to overcome apathy, doubt or fear.

This lends me to believe that your mind is your enemy when it comes to will power and it’s your instincts that gives the strength to persevere. Will power is a feeling and it’s your mind that stops the feeling from moving forward. I love mind over matter and I have no doubt it applies to many instances. I just believe when it comes  to conjuring up will power; dig deep into your gut, try not to think about it and move forward with full undivided seamless confidence. This is when you can fully harness will power. With practice I have no doubt you can do almost anything humanly possible with time.

Good luck and dig deep my friends.
